20 minute Complimentary Assessment

Description

This online interactive tutoring session is offered to assess reading comprehension and essay writing skills. There is no fee for this session. This assessment is only available to new students. The assessment is not a medical diagnosis and does not replace an IEP.

What to Expect:

– Welcome

– Student will read a short passage

– Writing

– Feedback on Student work (family will be scheduled for a 10 minute recap following the assessment within 1 week of the initial assessment)

The Assessment is Ideal for:

• Students looking for tips on how to improve their own writing

• Students who write how they type

• ESL Students

• Students preparing a writing portfolio

 

Private lessons may cover but are not limited to:

– Creating a Thesis

– Composing Paragraphs

– Understanding sentence structure and mechanics

– Understanding and Writing Narrative Essays

– Understanding and Writing Expository Essays

– Understanding and Writing Argumentative Essays

– Understanding and Writing Descriptive Essays

– Understanding and Writing Compare and Contrast Essays

– Understanding and Writing in MLA format

– Understanding the difference between Revisions & Editing

Prerequisites:
– Previous essay writing experience is required.

– Basic computer literacy (ability to copy links in chat and paste them into a web browser, ability to minimize zoom if needed, ability to type in Google Docs)

– Some knowledge of grammar is helpful even if the student is unclear about the difference between a noun and a verb.

– Typing skills- Students will complete all assignments by typing. They do not have to type with two hands but should be comfortable working writing without using paper. If your child need typing support, please check out our Life Skills Typing Course.*

To get started, please select the day and time you would like your child’s course to begin. All request must be received at least 48 hours before the start date.
