Camp| Ages 8-14: Learn Typing & Computer Skills
In this 2-week typing & computer literacy course, students the function to improve their online learning including: typing with two hands, how to use a mouse, how to copy and paste, how to save a file. This class is designed to help students learn to type with confidence without looking at the keyboard or resorting to typing one finger at a time. Students will learn to type based on what they see, hear, and think.

Camp| 2nd & 3rd Grade Reading & Writing
Sentences are great! Words strung together can create powerful stories and poems that captivate the imagination. Sentences can also be confusing. Writing involves a ton of rules on sentence structure and it can all start to feel like a mystery. If your young learner is able to read and has written basic sentences, then this class can help them build their writing skills. This camp is divided into 2 parts: Parts of Speech, Writing Responses to Literature.
This class is interactive. In week one, students will be introduced to the subject of the day, followed by exploring sentence prompts. In week two they will focus on reading short stories and writing about them. Each class will conclude with a short homework assignment that is designed to take less than thirty minutes
Prerequisite:
Basic computer literacy skills- Students must know how to mute, unmute, and click on a link (links are shared in the chat), and identify common punctuation on the keyboard (period, question mark, comma).
Basic reading skills- Students should be able to read at a second grade level and be familiar with sounding out unfamiliar words.
Students should plan to spend 15 minutes to 1 hour on homework outside of class.

We will communicate with you before the class start date to determine if your child would like to proceed with the scheduled lessons.

Camp| 4th & 5th Grade Intro to Essay Writing
Students will explore parts of speech, grammar basics, sentence structure, and how to use these tools to create impactful paragraphs.
The first few classes focus on grammar basic while writing responses to short passages read in class. During the second week, we’ll students will transition to writing a short 4 paragraph essay.
Previous experience with essay writing is not required. Each class includes a short writing activities that support either creative thinking or analytical thinking.
This course encourages discussion and interaction. In class materials include Kahoot, Nearpod, and Google Docs. All writing essay writing is done using Google Doc. No printouts are required for class work.
Prerequisites:
– Basic computer literacy (ability to copy links in chat and paste them into a web browser, ability to minimize zoom if needed)
– Some knowledge of grammar is helpful but not required.
*** Students do not have to be good at typing, but should be comfortable using a mouse and a keyboard. This class does not use paper and pencil. ***
Students should plan to spend 15 minutes to 1 hour on homework outside of class.

Camp| Middle School Essay Writing
In this 6-week typing & computer literacy course, students will continue to grow their computer literacy skills by focusing on: typing with two hands, typing what they see, typing what they hear, typing from thought, and more common keyboard shortcuts. This class places a greater emphasis on typing speed and includes collaborative games. Each class is gamified. Using a combination of teacher directed activities and typing software, this class makes learning to type fun.
Participants must take “Learn Typing & Computer Literacy Skills (Level 1)” before joining this class and should have completed the course with an average typing speed greater than 10wpm.

– students who have experience typing with two hands
– students who may not type fast, but would like to maintain regular practice

Pre-requisite:
Student should be familiar with proper hand placement and correct typing form.
Students who “hunt and peek” will not be able to maintain enrollment in this course. Families will be redirected to Typing Level 1.
Students must be able to mute, unmute, turn off their camera, turn on their camera, and screen share without parental assistance.
This class is designed for students to work independent of parental assistance. If your child requires parental assistance for cognitive or physical needs, then please message us prior to enrollment. Your learner may benefit from a different class or class format based on their needs.
